LAYLATUL QADR
(THE NIGHT OF GRANDEUR AND POWER)
19th, 21st, and 23rd
(Common Aa'maal of the Laylat ul Qadr)
No night, throughout the year, is on a level with this night. On account of
its merits, surpassing excellence, superiority, and the superabundant bounties, benefits
and favors this night brings for the mankind it leaves behind every night known for
blessings. As revealed in the Holy Book the Night of "QADR" is
better than a thousand months, therefore, Aa'maal done in these nights are better than the
Aa'maal done in one thousand months.
In this month the "Spirit" (Rooh) together with one thousand Angels
descend and that which has been decided is shown to the "Living Imam."
It must be kept in mind that the days are as auspicious as the nights, so recite the Holy Quran and dua'as of Imam Ali ibn Abi Taalib (A.S.) and Imam Ali bin Husayn al Zaynul Aabideen (A.S.) during the daytime on the 19th, 21st, and 23rd.
Common Aa'maal of the "Laylatul Qadr"
As either the 19th, 21st, or the 23rd night of this month is the
"Laylatul Qadr", there are Aa'maal which should be done during all this said

3. Open the Holy Quran and place it before you and say:
ALLAAHUMMA INNEE AS-ALUKA BIKITAABIKAL MUNZALI WA MAA FEEHI WA FEEHIS-MUKAL AKBAR
WAS-MAA-UKAL HUSNAH WA MAA YUKHAAFU WA YURJAA AN TAJ-A'LANEE MIN U'TAQAA-IKA MINAN NAAR
{ O Allah I beseech Thee to include me among those who have been set free from the
Hellfire, in the name of Thy revealed Book and that which is in it, and in it there is
that which warns and gives hope.}
(Then invoke Allah to fulfill your legitimate desires.)
4. Keep the Holy Quran on your head and say:

MINKA
{O Allah for the sake of this (Holy) Quran, and for the sake of that person through whom
Thou sent it, and for the sake of those believers who have been praised there in, and in
the name of Thy obligation to them, no one is aware of Thy obligation more than Thou..}
Then say each of the following 10 times:

(Then invoke Allah to fulfill your legitimate desires)
5. Recite Ziyaarat of Imam Hussayn (A.S.)
6. It is highly desirable to remain awake and pray dua'as and Salaats in the "Nights of Qadr". Allaama Majlisi (R..A.) says that every faithful must beseech Allah, in these nights, for mercy and forgiveness for one's own self, his parents, relatives, living and dead sisters and brothers in faith.
7. Recite Dua'a "Jawshan Kabeer"
8. Pray a 100 Rak'at Salaat as under:
a) In every rakat, after the recitation of Surah Al-Faatiha, recite
Surah Al-Ikhlaas 10 times.
b) Kaf-a'mi (R.A.) reports that Imam Ali ibni Hussayn Zaynal Abideen (A.S.)
used to recite the following dua'a in Qiyaam, Rukoo and Sajdah of every Rakat.
"O Allah I have come to the end of the day as an insignificant
and
humble servant in thy bondage. It is not possible for me to direct the course of
that which is useful for me or that which is harmful for me, nor it is in control to
prevent the evil that may take hold of me. I have brought this as a proof of my
helplessness which I confess before Thee because of my lack of energy and want of means;
therefore, send blessings on Muhammad and on the Children of Muhammad and let come true
the promise Thou made with me and with all the faithful men and the faithful women that in
this night Thy forgiveness would be available to us. Make complete that which Though
has given me because I am Thy servant- a humble destitute in misery, weak, broken, and
forsaken.
O Allah let me not forget to praise Thee for that which Thou has bestowed on me, and
for the favor Thou showed me by giving free gifts; and let me not lose hope of getting Thy
favorable answer, be it that there is delay in the midst of gain or loss, hardship or
ease, security or instability, prosperity or misery, (but) Thou hears the supplication at
last."
Once someone asked the Holy Prophet (S.A.) what to ask for from Allah in the "Night
of Qadr" if he got a chance. The Holy Prophet (S.A.) advised him to beseech Allah for
his deliverance (on the Day of Judgment).

S'ALLAATAN LAA YAQWAA A'LAA IH'S'AA-IHAA ILLAA ANTA
{O Thy One who is (Ever existing) supreme being and was there before any and
everything, then (after that) He created all things. He is eternal and all that has
been created is mortal. O that One like unto Him there is nothing. O that One who is
such that no one in the high heavens, nor on the low earths, nor above, below and in
between, worship anyone other than Him as a God. Praise be to Thee. It is not
possible to count up, remember and narrate Thy praise in all its dimensions. Thou alone
can do it. Therefore send blessings on Muhammad and on the Children of Muhammad, blessing
that no one other than Thou has the capacity to count, remember and narrate its meaning
and true purpose}
